I have a 10 inch portable tv and the battery only last a couple of hours. I was wondering how much power it would take to run my tv. I want to purchase a lightweight solar charger and i am not sure what i would need. the Tv requires 24 watt to run and the charger given uses 12 volts or 2000mA. If any one has some knowledge of what it would take that would be great.

Your TV needs at least 24W to operate, that means you will need 24W solar panel or more if you want to run the TV in real time while the sun is out. Then you will need to wire charge controller between the panel and your TV to regulate the voltage.

You can also wire a battery (car batter or similar) to the same system listed above from the charge controller leads. This will allow you to store extra energy from the panel if the TV is not in use. Also you will be able to get by with solar panel that is lower in wattage (thus lower price) but you will not be able to watch your TV as much, but only for few hours. In addition you will be able to use other devices that use more than 24W, if you have battery, but they will rapidly drain it.
None of this will be cheap. Keep in mind that the controller that I have listed can only support 60W max.
