How can I build a cheap solar powered pool heater?

I have a pool and I want to build a solar powered pool heater for it. The only thing is that I don’t really know the right way to do it.I’ve done some research online about different heating methods and have found out that the most ideal thing for me is to put a solar panel on top of the roof. The only thing is that my pool is not that close to the house and connecting a pipe to the solar panel would mean that I would have to let the pipe run across the walkway which is not pretty and can be dangerous. My pool is inground and I’m having trouble figuring out which would be best: a portable one that stands or one that goes on the roof.I don’t really want to spend hundreds of dollars on this so my budget is around $200. Any help would be appreciated.

Im looking to build a solar charger for my ipod and phone. How do i build one?

So far i have come across some direction at

http://yosemiteoutside.com/m/Blogs/02EA4A6B-8893-4F3E-87A8-C1E4B24C3AAB_files/shapeimage_1.png

But i would like to change this a bit if possible. My goal is to have the solar panel charge a battery during the day that would then charge my phone and ipod when i get home from work in the evening. From what i understand the voltage regulator keeps a contant voltage and amperage going into the ipod so you do not burn it up. What do i need to change to be able to charge a battery? What do i need to do to have in line after the battery to charge my devices?

How to Build a Portable Solar Panel From Parts in Your Garage

How to build a Portable Solar Panel From Parts in your Garage is a new idea being explored these days. My research has shown that most of the components required for this project may already exist in your garage collecting dust. Here is a small list of parts that you need that just may be in your back yard tool shed or garage.

Bucket of Nuts, Bolts and Screws - Someone with OCD (Occupational Compulsive Disordered) might keep each one separate by size, type, length, and thickness. I just have this big gallon pail of them all together.   If I need something, my pail usually has it! Wire Nuts and Plugs - Done any home wiring lately?   I have!   Lumber stores usually make you buy more than you would ever need, right! Wire – Any 14 gauge spare electrical house wiring littering your garage?   Why not put into some good use! 12 Volt Batteries - Have you taken a battery out of a car and don’t know what to do with it?  12 Volt socket – For your car enthusiast….Have you ever seen one of these sockets.   Can we say a Cigarette lighter? Old Cooler - Have an old cooler collecting dust and refuse to put in the trash? They make a great battery storage unit! Power inverter - Have you ever used your computer or small house device in the car and plugged it into the cigarette lighter?  Power Drill – Yep! This is the handiest tool.   I use it as a screwdriver, drill holes, grind, and sanding.   Wire Cutter – Don’t have one? Scissors, utility knife and even a steak knife (Don’t tell you significant other!).

This is approximately 90% of all the components you need to build a portable solar panel. Most of us garage bums already have these parts collecting dust and/or stumbling over them while finishing the ‘honey do list’. All we need is a Guild, Book or Manual to explain how to put all these parts together.

Please visit http://www.buildaportablesolarpanel.info where author Michael Harvey goes into detail on how to build these low cost energy producing devices with components you may already own collecting dust. How to build a Portable Solar Panel from parts in your garage (My wife calls it junk!) could be your answer to stop anyone who is encouraging (nagging) you to clean your room!

How to build a portable solar panel from parts in your garage sound to good to be true? The Author looks into some of the components that you may already own that would significatly lower your cost of building a portable solar power system.

Portable Solar Power System-Learn How to Build a Portable Solar Power System

The best thing about solar power is that it has an unlimited potential. Learn how to build a portable solar power system, easily and save $1000’s on utility bills forever. You just need to know how to make your own renewable energy source and today I am going to tell you exactly how to build your own solar power system.

If you want to learn how to build portable solar power system, you’ll need to learn some basics on how exactly do solar panels work. This way, the entire procedure will be much easier to handle.

The process starts with solar modules. They are the main components exposed directly to sunlight. Their main function is to convert the sun’s energy into usable electrical power for your home appliances. To get them correctly installed, solar modules are to be mounted on a steel frame and positioned on your roof top.
Power produced by the solar modules is converted from Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC) through a inverter. Usually, Alternating Current (AC) is the usable electrical power that we need to power the home appliances.

Next, the electrical power transfers from the inverter to the electrical service panel. The electrical service panel is used for distributing the electrical power to different parts of your house or office for use.

The unused electrical power produced by the solar panels will then be brought into the grid all the way through the utility electric meter. As a result, the meter will be made to spin backwards and this establishes a credit with the utility company in offsetting future usage. This method is known as Net Metering and is completely approved by State Level Electricity Policy.

Learning how to build portable solar power system isn’t really a difficult task. You don’t require many skills beyond being able to handle wiring & basic tools with care and safety measures.

The components required for building solar panels include:-

1.    Solar Cells
2.    Sheet Plywood
3.    Copper Wire
4.    General Tools (Drills, screwdrivers, woodwork glue etc)
5.    Clear PVC Sheeting

All these components can be easily picked up by you from the local hardware store. Photovoltaic cell is the only component that you might have to search online and it can be found easily on eBay.

Quality directions that are easy to follow are vital to find when trying to build your own solar power system. This will make the building process less stressful and make you happier that you made the choice to do it yourself. Online is just one of the places you are able to find some of these manuals. Portable Solar Power Generators – Build Your Own

It has become quite common for people to research building their own portable solar power generators rather than purchasing retail. It isn’t that hard to do and the retail price for solar systems are rather high. With a little know how and elbow grease anyone can learn to make their own portable solar power generators.

Renewable energy is something that is becoming very popular due to rising electrical costs. By generating power with portable solar power generators, not only does it allow you the freedom to get electricity anywhere, but it helps our environment.

When you build your own portable solar power generators, you have control of exactly how much power you want to generate. You determine how big your panel will be and how you are going to store your power.

Another advantage of learning to build your own solar system is that you can always add to it later if you decide you want more power. Simply build another solar panel and battery then add it to your system.

Here’s how portable solar power generators work, basically.

1. You build a solar panel and put it somewhere it can get some nice sunlight.

2. Channel the energy produced by the panel through a charge controller.

3. From the charge controller the energy is stored in a deep cycle battery (eg. marine battery).

4. The energy in the marine battery is put through an inverter to convert it from Direct Current (DC) to Alternating Current (AC).

5. You plug your coffee maker into the inverter and brew up a nice hot cup of joe.

In order for you to be able to successfully and professionally make your own portable solar power generators, its a good idea to pick up a guide. These guides can take you through each step from finding exactly how much power you need to generate, to how to get that power flowing. Over at http://www.renewable-edge.info is a great guide which teaches you to make renewable energy for any application.
