Why not make phones with a cell on the outside so that when you are supping your latte or whatever you can put the phone in the sun to remain charged… actually I remember my grandad had an army watch with a battery that never died (due to some changing mech via movement), so why not put them on the phone? just a matter of time?

I think he means that Mexico City has so much smog (global dimming) that it blocks the ambient light needed to use the solar charging function.

Mexico City suffers one of the biggest amount of Smog in the ambient (my english sucks, sorry). It’s a bad joke I think.

the solar panel is quite small… and cellphones use quite big amounts of energy. today, solar panels are evry effective, so you can easily reach a higher output by using bigger panels, but increasing the output by using better panels wont work anymore. and this thing is so tiny, i dont want to know the reload time for my cellphone.
